Groundtruth Capture for Chrome
Version 1.3.0 · Chrome 120 or later
A side panel that sends what you read into Groundtruth: web pages, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, GitHub files, issues and pull requests, PDFs, YouTube transcripts and Gmail threads. Save it as a page, add it to an existing page, or turn it into a decision, task or record. Saved sources are tracked: when the original changes, the extension offers to refresh your page, and your own notes around it stay.
Install it for your company (recommended)
Your Chrome administrator installs it once for everyone, and every browser updates itself when we publish a new version. This works on Chrome browsers your company manages: through Google Admin, Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, a macOS configuration profile, or Chrome Browser Cloud Management.

Google Admin console
- Go to Devices → Chrome → Apps & extensions → Users & browsers and pick the organisational unit.
- Press +, then Add Chrome app or extension by ID.
- Enter the extension ID, choose From a custom URL and paste the update URL.
- Set the installation policy to Force install (or Force install + pin to browser toolbar) and save.
Windows: Intune or Group Policy
Add this line to the Chrome policy ExtensionInstallForcelist (in Intune: Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions):
ggcblofagahipaoeajkhifhcenbcdfkl;https://groundtruthhq.tech/extension/update.xmlmacOS: configuration profile
In a profile for com.google.Chrome, add the same line to the ExtensionInstallForcelist array.
Linux
Create /etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed/groundtruth.json:
{ "ExtensionInstallForcelist": ["ggcblofagahipaoeajkhifhcenbcdfkl;https://groundtruthhq.tech/extension/update.xml"] }Chrome checks for updates every few hours and installs new versions in the background. Chrome only installs extensions from outside the Chrome Web Store on managed browsers, so this route needs one of the policies above.
Chrome Web Store
A Chrome Web Store listing for unmanaged browsers is on its way. Until then, use the company install above, or try it yourself below.
Try it yourself
- Download version 1.3.0 and unzip it.
- Open
chrome://extensions, switch on Developer mode and choose Load unpacked. Select the unzipped folder. - Open the extension (toolbar icon, or Alt+Shift+G) and press Sign in with Groundtruth.
A copy loaded this way doesn't update itself: download the new version from this page when we announce one.
Privacy and security
- It reads a page only when you capture it, or, for sources you chose to keep in sync, when it checks them for changes.
- Sign-in uses the normal Groundtruth login (OAuth with PKCE). The session works only with the Groundtruth server that issued it.
- Your keys (Groundtruth API key, optional GitHub token, optional Anthropic key for smart fill) stay in Chrome on your device.
- Smart fill is optional: it sends the captured text to Anthropic under your own key. Everything else goes only to Groundtruth.
